Towns Reserves finally completed a 90 minute game after the previous 2 weeks had been abandoned. Manager Robbie Elliott was a little disappointed after the game as the draw would of been the correct result but we again gifted the 3 points for Whitchurch.
It was Elliott's former Winchester City 1st team player Dean Smith who was on loan from Andover scoring the first goal against his former Gaffa! (but he did apologize afterward's).
Towns problems occured when they went down to that Smith goal after 5 minutes, but this always triggers the players to start playing and they slowly took control. Sam Melin was positive in defensive centre mid along with the industrious Gareth Sadler and left winger Pete Walker whom had a one on one but put his volley over the bar. The other end Tim Ndowura (i think thats right) pulled off 2 very good saves to keep the score at 1-0. Tom Munday as always continued his impressive form and was causing Whitchurch to panic at the back.
The equalizer came right on half time when Munday scrambled home a well taken John Williams corner which the keeper dropped and Munday was on hand to stab home.
The secong half wasnt as flowing as the first as the wet surface was getting stickier and conditions were the best, but the all important winner for Whitchurch came after a diagonal right to left ball fell to pete Walker who sliced it back to Towns keeper, who should of cleared but instead picked it up and gave the Ref no choice but to award an indirect kick. From 8 yards Whitchurch werent going to miss and won it with that goal.
Final Score: Whitchurch Utd 2 Romsey Town 1
